<image:caption>Oil on canvas (60x 40 cm) Duhok is my home town where I lived until I was 23 years old. My memory of it is fading as it is, from what I hear, rapidly changing. This is an impression of it from an old photograph. Duhok dam was one of my favourite places to go to for summer evening walks.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work -  A pilgrimage 2025- 2026 (150 x 150 cm) graphite on paper</image:title>
<image:caption>A pilgrimage (2026) is a personal response to the awe-inspiring work of medieval artists and masons. Starting from the idea of the Christian life as a pilgrimage towards the new creation, beautifully captured in the 13thcentury geometrical labyrinth of Notre Dame Cathedral of Chartres, and using a compass, with graphite at both ends, a gestural nod to their theological methodology, I marked an irregular winding path on paper laid on the floor, guiding it in intuitive movement widening the compass and narrowing it repeatedly along the way and towards the rose in the middle. Over many weeks I came back to the drawing and in similar short sessions, I traced with graphite the messy path which was at times interrupted, overlapped, narrowed, and lost while reflecting to the sound of sacred music from the diverse traditions that accompanied me on my pilgrimage since my youth.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work - St Peregrine (2024) 10 x 13 cm Egg tempera on wood</image:title>
<image:caption>An intimate object of prayer, this icon depicts the saint pleading at the feet of the crucified Christ. Known as the patron saint of those with cancer and serious illnesses, St Peregrine suffered from a worsening infection in his leg and tradition tells us he spent the night before a scheduled amputation praying by a fresco of the crucifixion. Agonised by the pain, he saw a vision of Christ reaching out and touching his leg and woke up to find it was healed. This icon was commissioned for a mother diagnosed with cancer. I felt compelled to make the crucifix the centre of the icon with the saint kneeling while his bleeding leg overlaps with Jesus’s bleeding feet, and thus uniting his wounds with the wound of Christ and looking up on Him in whose wounds we are healed.</image:caption>
